The Fiddler's Green Festival 2010

All Festival Night Time Folk Club concerts are in St Bronaghs Social Club Rostevor, except for the Music Of Healing which will be held in The Renewal Centre. Further artists to be added. Information on the Festival Lunch Time Folk Club. The Festival Early Evening Music Club, The Festival Night Time Melting Pot.
The Fiddler's Green Festival has come a long way in the last 24 years. It began as a one day event, progressed to a weekend one and now extends to eight days and seven nights of music, culture and craic. With up to 200 events the festival caters for music fanatics, families who wish to enjoy a safe, child focused festival, and those who come just to soak up the scenery, the friendliness and the free outdoor music.
Based in the scenic village of Rostrevor, preparations for the 24th festival are well in hand. There will be free outdoor ceilis, an open air stage, art exhibitions, children's entertainment and even a literary pub crawl, with the emphasis on 'literary' rather than 'crawling'! All musical tastes are catered for (folk, blues, country, classical), with lunchtime, early evening and night time folk clubs. Each year the Festival bestows two special awards; the Hall of Fame Award which celebrates lifelong achievement in Irish Music, and the Creative Arts Award to acknowledge achievements in the Arts and Literary fields, the first award having been presented to poet laureate Seamus Heaney. The recipients of these awards are traditionally named closer to the Festival's formal launch.

ILGÍ
The most famous world music band from Latvia, the mood of
ILGÍ music ranges from reflective, almost meditative
calm, to unstoppable, bubbling vitality.
Founded by Ilga Reizniece the band was oppressed during the
communist regime and it was only after the collapse of the communist
empire that they were able to fulfill and display their creative ambitions.
While employing the modern musical themes and instruments in their
records ILGÍ also incorporate the influences of ethnic music from other
countries, including Celtic, Slavic and African.
From 1989 ILGÍ have taken part in numerous music festivals in
neighbouring Estonia and Lithuania as well as in Russia, Finland, Sweden,
Norway, Great Britain, Switzerland, Australia, USA, France, China, and
gained both the sympathies of the listeners, and raving reviews from the
press. In 2006 their CD, ‘Ne uz vienu dienu’ was voted the 2nd best
European world music recording by the experts of World Music Charts
Europe (WMCE).
It is an honour to welcome them to the Open Air Stage
